Special consideration in GCSE and GCE

Awarding organisations are required to have procedures for making adjustments to the marks of candidates who have not been able to demonstrate attainment because of exceptional circumstances.

Ofqual collects and reports information on the total number of requests for special consideration in the GCSE and GCE summer examination series in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. No geographic breakdown is currently published.
