Standards Over Time
Thursday, 04 March 2010 17:28
As the regulatory body for external qualifications in England it is our responsibility to ensure that GCE and GCSE standards are maintained over time — and across awarding organisations. In addition to annual standard setting processes, we publish reports reviewing standards every five years across all major subjects. Our aim is to establish any action we may need to take to safeguard examination standards.
To safeguard examination standards we monitor the requirements of syllabuses and their related assessments, and examine the level of performance required of candidates at key grades over a period of time. You can download a description of the review of standards programme and examine the review of standards for qualifications across the range of subjects listed on this page.
